HOW TO GET A DRIVER'S LICENCE IN ADELAIDE?

The Graduated Licensing Scheme is the procedure for earning a full driver's license. During the Learner's Permit phase, you must complete at least 75 hours of supervised driving. A two-stage Provisional Driver's License is available. To advance from Provisional Driver’s License, a mandatory Hazard Perception Test is required. Drivers who follow the rules are rewarded, while those who do not are penalized.


Steps involved in acquiring a driving license in Adelaide:

  1. Learner’ Driver License- The age of achieving learning license in Adelaide is 16 years old or older. The very first step of getting learning license is to complete the theory test with appropriate marks, only then one can provide with a learner's permit with the training course of basic rider prevention and bike class pass.

  2. Provisional Driver’s License (P1)- The age limit of getting provisional driver’s license (p1) is 17 years of age and up. You must have a Learner's Permit for at least 12 months if you are under the age of 25. If you're 25 or older, you'll need to have your learner's permit for at least six months. Also’ It is mandatory to complete 75 hours of work which includes minimum 15 hours of shift at night. Two tests that are compulsory for provisional driver’s license P1 are as follows: • Pass VORT which stands for the Vehicle on Road Test. • Second’ complete the Competency Based Training & Assessment (CBT&A) course under supervision. Here’ one will obtain the Advanced Rider Safe Bike Class training course.

  3. Provisional Driver’s License(P2)- The age range of obtaining provisional driver’s license (P2) is 8 years of age or older than it. For it, one needs to pass the Perception of Hazards Test (PHT) and it is necessary to maintain a P1 license for at least 12 months without incurring any penalty points in driving.

  4. Complete Driver’s License- One gets complete driver license at this stage and the age limit here is 19 years or older. But if one or even more demerit points have indeed been accrued, the age limit shifts to 20 years and older. The driver has to maintain a provisional driver's license for a minimum of two years, including six months on provisional driver’s license P2.

What if one disqualifies?

Consequences of Disqualification If driver rejected at any stage of achieving the license procedure, he/she has to go through all the tests again:

  • One who is the holder of a Learner's Driver License will have to retake the Theory Test.

  • P1 license holders will need to retake their VORT (Vehicle on Road Test) and CBT course (Competency Based Training & Assessment).

  • P2 license holders will have to undergo their Hazard Perception Test again.
